Analysis

Research:

is one of the most significant parts of the product design process. So to make our research effective and productive, we have conducted surveys and interviews to know our users better and get some meaningful insights about users. After that, we used this information to make user personas, user flows, project mapping, and most importantly competitive analysis. We took survey to understand the frequency of similar user groups, along with extra points users would like to share.

Methods we followed for researching:

  1. Online Surveys
  2. One to one User Interviews

Online Surveys:

we conducted an online survey through Google forms to have a better understanding of our target audience. We successfully surveyed around 43 people.where we divided our target audience into 4 groups on the basis of “age”. The age group was from 15 to 19, 20 to 25, 26 to 30, and then 31 plus. Where we asked very basic questions to engage the audience and to know more about them.

Most likedOTT Platforms usage

We eliminated youtube from this survey and selected the next top three platforms as the target platforms and they were “Netflix, Amazon prime and hotstar”.

One to one User Interviews:

After knowing the basic problems about OTT platforms through online survey. We conducted some interviews with people who are using OTT platforms regularly. Firstly we prepared a set of questions according to the goals. After some brainstorming, we took notes of the main concepts and used them to prepare a detailed overview like their goals, frustrations, challenges of everyone using user personas. Now it was turn to have one to one interaction to swoop more deeper and thus we targeted 3 people and conducted a telephonic interview. We asked Questions like:

  • Are you using any OTT platform?
  • Are you comfortable with it?
  • What excites about your current OTT applications?
  • Is there anything you would like to change in the app?
  • Pain points about the app?
  • and many more…

What we Got?

  • Pricing Issue.
  • Fake Reviews and ratings.
  • Content Filtering.
  • Subtitles issue.
  • Parental control problem.
  • Time limit for offline downloads.

Competitve Analysis

To conclude our research, we made an analysis of the competition. On one hand, we identified our business competitors and we checked out some reviews of the product they offer. On another hand, we selected the most popular problem that users present and we included them in our research to find a solution.

Problems:

As an output of our research, we have figured out some problems based on user interviews, surveys, and feedback that may define what the user is experiencing while using other competitive applications.

  • Subscription cost is too high.
  • Too much Advertisements even for subscribed users.
  • No parental control or kids corner.
  • Timelimits for offline downloads.
  • No quality controling.
  • Subtitle issues.
  • Pointless recomendations no scope of any personalization.
  • Confusion about what to subscribe not affordable.
  • Brightness and volume controlling issues.
  • Fake ratings reviews.
  • confusing user interface and more…

Solutions:

when we figured out various problems that our users are experiencing we did some brainstorming to overcome these problems.

  • Make the UI easy ,clear and direct for users.
  • Uniting different platforms which is cost effective.
  • No ads for premium users for better user experience.
  • Kids corner with a childlock.
  • No such limits for downloads and cloud backup availability.
